About Me

I am the proud mother of 6 children. 5 of our children have autism. We do not feel our world has ended, but just begun. We do not chelate, intervene biochemically, give shots of any kind, practice ABA, etc. We treat them as we treat any humanbeing. We treat them with kindness and respect and expect the same from them. They are exceptional children.

ON HIS WAY...

Kiernan has always been a man of little...well...no words.
Lately, Kiernan has decided it is time for him to communicate with
his voice, not just his Vanguard system or spelling out the words..

I knew this day would come. We have been raising a child with autism
for over 18 years. Believe it or not....Autistic children do get better without
the need of expensive biomedical interventions.

How do I know ????

Because, we have 5 children with Autism.
3 of them are non-distinguishable from their peers....but, they are autistic.
They went from severe autism, and all that entails (poop-smearing, screaming,
running away, lack of sleeping, non-verbal)...to functional, productive people.
All of this while ingesting a gluten-filled, casein-filled diet.

These children have remained in speech and occupational therapies. They did not
participate in the dangerous practices of Hbot and chelation....

Caitlin remained non-verbal....between the ages of 8 and 9, she decided it was time
for her to talk. She has remained verbal and can answer most of your questions about
her autism. She will tell you what bothers her and why she does the things she does...
like cover her ears and humming. Her mind is quite fascinating....as is she.

So, now that Kiernan is discovering his voice....I want to share with the parents of
children with Autism who are told without spending their life-savings on unproven
treatments that....YES....your child will mature and get better.
Unlike the sites that promote the despair of Autism and all the propaganda that
goes along with this despair, I want to share the joy of my children and all the
joy they have brought us.

So...I believe Kiernan is well on his way to talking to us....
It may be soon, it may not...but....
he is on his way..

Yay Kiernan, you ROCK!!!

My Andrew was non-verbal until he was around 3...and then he found his voice. Now, you can't shut the child up...he talks to anyone, anywhere (sometimes that's a little detrimental because we try and teach not to talk to strangers, a concept lost on him, lol). He too is indistinguishable from his peers and we too only used speech and occupational therapy and a rich gluten and casein diet, lol. All this through love and patience...from his family and his fabulous therapists!

Why are you so against diets???

When my eldest was dx'd he had daily diahhrea, nightly nightmares and/or terrors.

Terrors after naps.

I got told "this is NORMAL" for a child with autism.

It isn't NORMAL for anyone.

But I get slapped b/c I discovered it was caused by DAIRY.

I guess since he'll be as normal as normal is by the time he's an adult... I must be a HORRIBLE mother.

BTW... dairy has done nothing for the little one.... nor has he had "interventions" except for some ABA that was pretty much a disaster.

Where did I say I was against diets?
I believe diets are essential for the growth of our children.
If a child has a dairy allergy..remove the dairy...
BUT!!!
It does not make him or her non-autistic.

There is NO cure for Autism.
Children recover without the needs for the expensive interventions....

I am thrilled your child is improving. I hope you continue to see growth with his maturation.

Yeah, our guy didn't talk until he was six. Kids grow up and learn things. It's beautiful to watch but, as you so rightly point out, it is a natural process aided by education, and not the result of a miracle cure.

Lovely post..I am so happy when I read about other people who share similar views who also get enormous amounts of joy from their kids. Thanks.
